Hello, my name is Basar Demirbaş. I am an international student attending 12th grade at St. Anthony High School in San Antonio, Texas. Two years ago, I completed 10th grade as an exchange student at San Antonio Southside High School, and I have been continuing my education in the US ever since. I am currently participating in the Stanford Summer Program, where I am taking intensive courses in engineering and computer science to further deepen my passions.
I have a deep passion for creating technologies that serve others. Knowing that one day I will be in their shoes, I develop projects for the elderly. I am not afraid of mistakes—I see them as opportunities to learn. There are still many problems I haven't solved yet, but I approach each one step by step, with one motivation:
Will I one day be part of the team that develops a better James Webb telescope and discovers new habitats for humanity? Can I further develop the Da Vinci surgical robot and help more people regain their health?
To make these dreams a reality, I believe it’s better to grow in the forest rather than in a pot. I strive to learn and grow every day. STEM education is my path forward, and experiences like the Stanford Summer Session fill me with excitement as I continue on this journey.
My interest in mechanics and electronics began with my first Lego set and computer. Since then, I have never stopped building things, whether physical models or virtual worlds on my computer. I escape the fatigue of the real world by diving into the sea and draw inspiration from the ever-expanding worlds of science, software, and engineering.
Every new piece of knowledge I gain excites me even more. I take online software courses and explore new fields with curiosity and purpose. I exchange ideas with my father and mentors, always valuing perspectives that challenge my own and open up new avenues of thought.
To pursue these dreams, I believe in growing in the forest — not in a pot. I strive to learn and improve every single day. STEM education is my path forward, and I am thrilled to be walking it through experiences like the Stanford Summer Session.
I completed my primary, secondary, and 9th grade education in Turkey. In 2023, I participated in a student exchange program and successfully completed my 10th grade at San Antonio Southside High School in Texas, USA.
I am now a 12th grade international student at St. Anthony High School in San Antonio, continuing my academic journey in the United States.
